Always up for a
good laugh, musical satirist Peter Schickele
enjoys his backstage conversation with Steve and
Nelwyn Clack, KPAS sponsors for this Sunday
afternoon event. Schickele, and his alter ego
PDQ Bach, entertained two audiences for the
finale of the KPAS 2009-2010 season … closing
with an encore that had the audience on its
feet! Kent & Janet McKinney, of Guadalupe
National Bank, sponsored the Saturday evening
show. KPAS Guests for the evening were members
of the Kerrville Police Department. The
Kerrville Performing Arts Society is a 501(c)(
3) non-profit organization presenting a world of
superb performing arts in the Texas Hill
Country. |

Kerrville
audiences had the opportunity to hear music icon
Marvin Hamlisch as he reflected on his music and
lifetime as one of the preeminent composers of
his time. The over 1,600 concertgoers enjoyed
works by Hamlisch including his Pulitzer Prize
winning broadway show, “A Chorus Line”. Thanks
to local sponsors Beverly Pevehouse, Robert &
Lillian Treadwell, and the legal firm
Oppenheimer, Blend, Harrison + Tate, KPAS’
presentation of “One, Singular Sensation”
received accolades of praise from concertgoers. |

The crowd was
hoppin’ at the
American Big Band Shows presented by the
Kerrville Performing Arts Society. Thanks to
local sponsors James Avery, Busty & Amy
Underwood, Arthur Bell, and The Hill Country
Center for Cancer Care, over 1,600 concertgoers
had the opportunity to relax and enjoy music
from the big band era … performed by musicians,
singers and dancers. In addition, over 800 local
students attended an outreach performance with
the visiting artists. Above, Dr. Valerian Chyle
and his wife, Mary, swing with the cast members
following the show. Dr. Chyle welcomed twenty of
his patients from The Hill Country Center for
Cancer Care to enjoy the afternoon concert.

Thanks to the
generosity of local philanthropist Masel S.
Quinn, the Kerrville Performing Arts Society
featured two performances and a masterclass by
the world-renown
Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet. The
quintet is in the States for only two weeks, and
performed in Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, New
York, Atlanta…and Kerrville. Picture seated

The brilliantly
beautiful
Ballet Folklorico de Mexico performed for
over 2,500 people during their recent two-day
tour to Kerrville. Two evening performances and
one student outreach program each filled the
Cailloux Theater to capacity for these festive
performances. This event, presented by the
Kerrville Performing Arts Society, was made
possible through the generosity of local
sponsors Mamacita’s Mexican Restaurant, Bryant &
Brenda Williams (photo above), and Wells
Fargo Bank (photo below). Additional
funding was received by the Mid-America Arts
Alliance, supporting the continued efforts by
KPAS to enrich our community through the

The tenacious
Yamato Drummers, presented by the Kerrville
Performing Arts Society, received numerous
encores after their three thrilling
performances, attended by over 2,500
enthusiastic concertgoers. The sold-out
Wednesday evening performance was sponsored by
(L-R) Cynthia & Michael White of Kerrville
Framing and Diane & Bob Green of
Kerr County Abstract & Title Company
(photo above). The sold-out Thursday evening
performance was sponsored by (L-R) Sue & Joe
Atkinson of Hunt (photo below). KPAS’

possible for over 850 students to attend a
student outreach performance by the Japanese
